Berkeley Garden
We have an organic vegetable garden growing amongst the 150+ plots at the Berkeley Gardens in South End. The idea behind community gardens is to give its urban residents an opportunity to grow plants/vegetables since lands are scarce within the city. Here at 8centric, we open up our plot to our volunteers and donate the produce back to the Chinatown community. The video below demonstrates the design concept during the beginning of the 2010 summer. The above photo timeline shows you the amount of efforts that made it all possible.
At the end of the 2010 growing season, we harvested about 10 pounds of tomatoes and 2 pounds of bell pepper. Vandals were plenty but we figure they need it more than we do.
